Metallization
Metallization means coating or treating various substances (substrates) with metal/s or metal alloys. Different types of metallizations can improve surface properties by protecting against corrosion or wear, creating electrical conductivity, reflection or other functionality.
Vacuum metallization
The vaporization of a metal, metals or alloys takes place In a vacuum, and the metal gas cloud that forms then condenses on the part to be coated. The vacuum lowers the evaporation temperature, prevents corrosion and provides a more even coating.
Thin layer coatings – vacuum metallization
A surface is coated in a vacuum with a very thin layer (atomic size to mm) of metal/s, alloys or other substances.
