About the product
CCpilot VA from CrossControl is a computer with a 7-inch display. The computer has a touch screen and can be programmed with preferred functions, such as a video monitor, electronic manual or as a display for various instruments and machines.
What does AMB do?
AMB moulds a total of five plastic parts for the VA project: Front, Rear cover, USB lid, Light guide and Support plate. A so-called false two-component casting is made in the front part where we first mould a light guide in PMMA and then load it into the tool for the front and cast over it using PA66 with 30 per cent glass fibre. In true two-component casting, both operations are performed in the same tool, which is not economical for short series as tool and machine costs are very high. The light guide must sense the ambient light so that the finished unit adjusts the screen to the right sharpness and contrast. The rear cover and USB lid are moulded in PA66 reinforced with 30 per cent fibreglass. Three bushings are installed in the rear cover before delivery to the customer. The support plate is mounted internally in the finished unit, and keeps the keypads in place. This part is moulded in conductive PA6 with fibreglass and carbon so as not to interfere with the sensitive electronics contained in the computer.
