How does injection molding work (step-by-step)?

  1. Plastic granules are dried and placed in a hopper on the injection molding machine.
  1. The plastic is melted, and a screw feeds the plastic melt forward.
  2. The molten plastic is injected into a hot mold
  3. The mold is cooled, and the injected plastic part solidifies
  4. When the plastic part has solidified sufficiently, the mold is opened and the part is pushed or picked out.
