This spring, they inaugurated a 5,500-square-meter expansion, and this week, a solar park was commissioned, allowing AMB to produce more than 30% of its annual energy needs independently.<\/h4>\n<p>The parallel investments, totaling approximately SEK 100 million over one and a half years, have mostly gone unseen from the main road since most of the new developments are hidden behind the factory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in a period of future-proofing,\u201d says AMB CEO Tomas Magnusson. \u201cWe have long been cramped, which made further expansion impossible. That\u2019s why we decided to expand our facility by 5,500 square meters to the east, which gives us almost 30 percent more factory and warehouse space. Currently, there is extensive and intensive work to move operations around within the premises to achieve the best possible material flow, while production must continue as usual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The idea of generating their own electricity had been considered for quite some time, but it was only in connection with the land acquisition for the expansion that it became physically possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the uncertainty surrounding electricity supply in southern Sweden, it felt natural to also invest in our own electricity production when we acquired the land and needed to excavate anyway,\u201d says Tomas Magnusson. \u201cFor many years, we have operated our factory entirely on so-called green electricity, but it\u2019s certainly satisfying to also be able to more concretely contribute to lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduced total environmental impact in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The solar park covers two hectares and is expected to produce around 2 GWh per year, which corresponds to more than 30 percent of AMB\u2019s total energy consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlready on the first day after commissioning, all the electricity produced by the solar park went directly into our production,\u201d Tomas notes with satisfaction. \u201cThe cheapest kilowatt-hour is the one you never need to buy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How quickly the investment pays off naturally depends on the development of electricity prices in the future, but the sustainability aspect has weighed most heavily in the investment decision.<\/p>\n<p>Tomas is part of the third generation of the Magnusson family running AMB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen my grandfather co-founded the company nearly 80 years ago, it was exclusively the hydropower from the Lyckeby River that powered the heating elements on the first Bakelite presses,\u201d he says. \u201cNow, we are both happy and proud to once again be able to produce our own energy.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=&#8221;Download press kit&#8221; style=&#8221;custom&#8221; custom_background=&#8221;#dd3333&#8243; custom_text=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; shape=&#8221;square&#8221; align=&#8221;left&#8221; i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;far fa-newspaper&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Famb.se%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2024%2F08%2Famb-press_240822.zip&#8221;][vc_btn title=&#8221;Read more about our sustainability efforts&#8221; style=&#8221;custom&#8221; custom_background=&#8221;#dd3333&#8243; custom_text=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; shape=&#8221;square&#8221; align=&#8221;left&#8221; i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;far fa-newspaper&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Famb.se%2Fen%2Fcorporate-governance%2Fsustainable-development%2F|title:Sustainable%20development&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AMB is in the final stages of a major investment period, including a 5,500 sqm expansion and a solar park expected to produce 2 GWh per year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":16880,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[12,17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-16886","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-press-releases"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
