About the product
Vigmed® SWiTCH is an arterial catheter with flow switch and needlestick protection that is easy and safe to use, with full control of blood flow during insertion and post-insertion care. The automatic safety mechanism at the tip of the needle protects the user against stick injuries without entailing any changes to the insertion process. The precise interaction between the needle and catheter tip on each product provides excellent, consistent insertion characteristics.
What does AMB do?
AMB moulds certain components of Vigmed® SWiTCH and also purchases and assures the quality of the other components. Injection moulding and subsequent assembly takes place in a class 8 cleanroom in fully automated assembly cells, developed in collaboration with Vigmed. The complex assembly process, which has to take place at high speed and guarantee flawless products, is a high-technology achievement of the highest order. Pre-packaged products leave the cleanroom and are sent for sterilisation before distribution to the customer.
Vigmed develops innovative stick protection that eliminates the risk of blood-borne diseases in healthcare. An estimated 1 million needlestick injuries occur in Europe every year, and needlestick injuries lead to an estimated 66,000 people being infected annually with HBV, 16,000 with HCV, and 1,000 with HIV among healthcare personnel worldwide.
Vigmed’s vision is to become the acknowledged leading innovator and preferred partner for healthcare professionals in particular and healthcare in general regarding stick injury protection products and solutions aimed at a safer working environment and eliminating the risk of blood-borne transmission of infection. Vigmed is located in Helsingborg, Sweden, and has been owned since 2017 by Austria’s Greiner Bio-One.
